Lugansk regional College of Culture and Arts
In 2007 Lugansk regional College of Culture and Arts celebrated its’ 80th anniversary. College is the ancestor and direct heir of three creative educational establishments, which appeared in Lugansk at different times.
The date of college establishment roots back in 1927, when, according to the decision of Donetsk regional department of professional education a professional school of drawing and painting had been organized on the base of decorative workshop of October Revolution plant. At 30s artistic professional school title had been changed several times. First it was Donetsk artistic technical school and then Voroshilovgrad artistic college. Period of Great Patriotic War also left its mark on the fate of the educational institution. The artistic college had been closed for about four years. But in post-war years the college has been already approved in the lists of educational establishments of the USSR and it had been taken on the republican financing.
According to the resolution of UUSSR Council of Ministers one more college – musical – has been established in Lugansk on 15 June, 1945.
20 years later, educational college appeared in Lugansk on base of decision of executive committee of regional workers’ deputies Council upon the order of USSR Ministry of culture. Educational establishment got its’ modern face at the end of XX century, in 1997. At that time, the college of culture and arts had been created on base of three establishments of Ukrainian Ministry of culture: college of culture, music and artistic college
Every year college graduates more than 200 young specialists in 9 specialties and 21 specializations, one third of which continue their studying at higher educational establishment of III-IV accreditation levels. College graduates are leaders of creative groups, artists of orchestra, ensembles, teachers at educational establishments of arts, actors and directors of theatre groups, of libraries and document studies specialists, graphic designers, painters, sculptors.
The names of numerous culture and arts workers, graduated from college became the pride of Lugansk region, and their brilliant talent and skill did win and are still winning both domestic and foreign spectators. People artist of Ukraine, academician, rector of National Musical Academy after P. Tchaikovsky (Kiev) – Oleg Timoshenko, people artist of Ukraine, Kiev National Architecture Arts Academy Mykola Popov, people artist of Ukraine, academician, professor, rector of Donetsk conservatory after S.S. Prokofjev, international contests laureate Vyacheslav Voyevodin, honored artist of Russia, professor of Moscow conservatory after P. Tchaikovsky Yuriy Tkanov and others are among them.
The creative collectives of Lugansk regional College of Culture and Arts are its’ fame and pride. There were a lot of them - talented, bright, uniques, the ones that gave life start to numerous singers, dancers, musicians, during the years of college existence. Some collectives went away later, having given a bright light, and some of them have been existed and still exist for 50 years, communicating the best traditions (folk song and dance ensemble «Lugansk patterns», chamber orchestra «Serenada», jazz band «Dixieland», children phylarmonic society «Peer», chorus collective «Blagovist», brass band, folk instruments orchestra) Well known people such as G. Avanesov, E. Belyavsky, O. Chirka, V. Petrachenko, Y. Brylev, E. Gorokhov, V. Mishchenko and lot of others had been these collectives producers.
Educational establishment consists of children recreation centre «Beryozka» and children arts school, which are the bases of practical training for college students.
Nowadays, Lugansk regional College of Culture and Arts is the base of regional educational complex in culture and arts field, training and retraining centre of highly qualified exponential and professors’ staff with modern thinking. Every year college opens new specialties, increase the indices, and first of all, qualitative indices of college entrants and graduate students. Material and technical basis has been constantly growing and expanding.

Musical art: piano, orchestra brass and percussive instruments, folk instruments, orchestra string instruments; academic, folk, variety vocal; variety musical art; music theory; chorus conducting.
Choreorgaphy: folk, modern, ball.
Fine arts: painting; arts and computer graphic; artistic decoration; sculpture.
Artistic photography: artistic photo portrait.
Library science.
Variety circus art.
Folk artistic creation: folk singing art, folk instrumental art, producing of variety and public celebrations.
Theatre art: acting.
Document studies and information activity.
